Harold López-Nussa On Tour Now in the U.S. - New Video from "New Day"
"Harold López-Nussa's trio's pulsating grooves and emotive interplay are consistently engaging and often exhilarating."
- All About Jazz
Thrilling young jazz pianist Harold López-Nussa has a string of U.S. concerts this month, coinciding with the release of a new video, below, for "Fatasmas en Caravana", a track from his latest Jazz Village release, New Day, a Top Jazz Album of 2013 on Rhapsody. The Chicago Reader wrote that the track's "biting, introspective Fender Rhodes solo builds in intensity and focus as the rhythm section ramps up from amorphous and drifty to razor sharp and piledriver intense." The colorful video is appropriate for the Halloween season!
With roots in both Cuba and Europe, López-Nussa's music is an intoxicating blend of lush melodies and quicksilver rhythms that owes as much to the distinguished school of Cuban piano as to the pianist's innate virtuosity, which has been cultivated under the influence of such great jazzmen as Keith Jarrett and Wayne Shorter. Downbeat Magazine made New Day an Editor's Pick, calling it, "a masterful blend of various influences: the dance rhythms of popular Cuban music, the classical compositions of López-Nussa’s formal conservatory training, and the improvisational solo flights of jazz."
