The Choir of Royal Holloway to Tour North America March 31- April 10 and release New Album May 27
The Choir of Royal Holloway, choral scholars of the University of London, embark on a two-week tour of Canada and the United States beginning March 21st at St. James Cathedral in Toronto and concluding April 10th at the St. James Cathedral in Chicago.
Their upcoming new release, English Romantic Madrgials, is available May 27th on Hyperion Records. While the church music of Victorian England has retained a secure foothold in music history. Secular partsongs written during this period were not so lucky. Written to complement the Elizabethan madrigals that were then being rediscovered and performed, this unjustly neglected corner of the English vocal repertoire is revitalized by Rupert Gough and Royal Holloway Choir in these idyllic performances.
