Pianist Maxence Cyrin Announces June 2016 North American Tour
French pianist and composer Maxence Cyrin has enjoyed a surprisingly diverse career. After training at conservatory, Cyrin moved on to electronic music and new-wave, releasing several records during the 1990s. In the 2000s he began crafting re-imaginings of music by such pop icons as Massive Attack, Depeche Mode, Aphex Twin, Daft Punk and Nirvana. His rendition of The Pixies classic “Where is my Mind,” from his 2009 album Novö Piano, has been viewed over 5 million times on YouTube and featured on numerous film and television soundtracks. 2016's Novö Piano II (Evidence Classics) picked up where volume one left off with pop/rock repertoire of the 80s and 90s. Included are The Cure’s “If Only We Could Sleep,” Björk’s “Hyperballad” and Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”. In between he released 2015's Nocturnes (Evidence Classics), his first recording of original compositions for solo piano.
