The New A Cappella Group ORA Make Their U.S. Debut.
The new a capella vocal group, ORA, will be performing its USA debut concerts in Austin and Dallas, Texas, on May 19 & 20. ORA catapulted its way onto the UK classical music scene in February with its inaugural concert and first album launch at the Tower of London. The concert, with its seven world premieres commissioned by ORA, garnered glowing reviews from the national press and the album, Upheld by Stillness on the harmonia mundi label, entered as the highest new release in the UK classical charts.

All of the singers in ORA have sung with the most respected choral groups that the UK has to offer, such as the Tallis Scholars, the Hilliard Ensemble, the Gabrieli Consort and the Sixteen.Between them they have appeared in thousands of concerts across the globe and have been instrumental in winning numerous industry recording awards.
Suzi Digby, the group’s Artistic Director, Founder and Conductor, is at the vanguard of choral music’s recent popular resurgence. Passionate about choral music in all its forms, Suzi received an OBE from Queen Elizabeth II for outstanding services to music education in 2009. Throughout her career she has pushed the boundaries of musical performance and has gained professional and critical recognition for her ground-breaking approach.

For Upheld by Stillness, the group’s harmonia mundi début, ORA asked several composers to write works reflecting on the music of William Byrd, including his Mass for Five Voices. Included here, paired with Byrd’s originals, are world première recordings of newly commissioned works by Roxanna Panufnik, Francis Pott, Alexander L’Estrange, Owain Park, Charlotte Bray and Roderick Williams.
