Schubert: Epic and Intimate
Inspired by the artistic salons of Schubert's time, these one-hour, late-night concerts in 92Y’s intimate Buttenweiser Hall bring you closer to Schubert’s most personal music.
“A Schubertian of unfaltering authority and character” - Gramophone
Pianist Shai Wosner has drawn international praise for his exceptional artistry, musical integrity, insightful performances and imaginative programming. But it’s his performances and recordings (Onyx Classics) of the music of Schubert that have earned him special acclaim. Wosner returns to 92Y with a new late-night series in our smaller, more intimate performance space, with three recitals focusing on the composer’s pioneering last six piano sonatas. The pianist views these sonatas as “six great novels, rich with insights into the human condition.”
